Food Standards Scotland (FSS) has launched a new campaign to asking the public if they are guilty of ‘kitchen crimes.’
The campaign highlights 20 recommended food safety actions which are not always followed at home and could potentially lead to food poisoning.
According to the latest research by FSS, 40% people in Scotland who have had food poisoning believe they got it from eating and preparing food at home. 44% of population don’t always use different chopping boards for different foods or wash chopping boards when switching between foods.
In addition, only one third of people check the ‘use by’ date as the best way to assess whether food is safe to eat or use in cooking.
