Communication with consumers | Development of new skills | Embracing new technologies
All are vital to staying relevant and informed in the fast-paced food sector of today. Opportunities to update your knowledge and network with colleagues and members abound at SC22 – IFST’s technical and professional development conference.
Before the main event, members and colleagues met in person at our ‘SC22 Conference Lunch and Lecture' with our guest speaker, Professor Robin May, Chief Scientific Adviser to the Food Standards Agency in Birmingham on 25 April 2022. Following that special in-person event, our virtual Spring Conference took place from 4-6 May. We will focus on the future of our food sector, including challenges and opportunities and examine three knowledge gaps:
-
How do we communicate change and scientific developments to the consumer?
-
What skills and competencies do food professionals need to pivot into the future?
-
How are the latest innovations in cyber security, packaging and sustainability technologies being used to advance industry productivity and sustainability?
During SC22, attendees were inspired by a range of panel discussions, showcasing innovative science and technologies from across a variety of disciplines. Each session also featured a fascinating line-up of case studies illustrating innovations in cyber security, packaging and waste-free manufacturing and more. Our conference was enriched by a specifically curated, thought-provoking programme of highly relevant and professional speakers.
