The IFST North of England Branch Committee is dedicated to engaging with both academia and industry and wants to:
- Promote Food Science & Technology to all;
- Encourage students to embrace Food Science & Technology;
- Provide networking & learning opportunities for Industry members; and
- Support Northern England food businesses.
The area that we cover as the North of England Branch is very large: from Carlisle to Berwick to Hull to Liverpool, and everywhere in-between.
The current core committee members are:
Chair: Alex Guest
Vice Chair: Zoe Shuttlewood
Secretary: Gerard O’Brien
Events: Maria Dimopoulou
The Northern Branch Committee also has a number of non-executive members who play a major part in our discussions and decision-making, and we are always on the look-out for new Committee members from Industry, Academia, etc.
If you can spare one hour of your time each month, and if you would be interested in becoming a Committee member, or simply wish to know more about the role of a Committee member, please contact us.
Each Branch is run by a small committee of volunteer members, who meet both face-to-face and virtually. As part of the committee, members are actively involved in organising and attending meetings in relation to setting up activities, events and webinars across the year. We value the important contribution that volunteers bring to the work and life of the Institute. Without the contribution of the volunteers who serve on committees, branches and special interest groups, we would find it difficult to achieve the strategic priorities set out by the Board of Trustees. The Impact Award is an opportunity for volunteers to showcase an innovative activity that has been undertaken that meets the set criteria.
