Alastair MacGregor, a member of IFST's Volunteer Advisory Group was delighted to be able to announce, at the annual IFST Volunteer Assembly in London on 13 March, that the winner of the 2018 IFST Impact Award was The Student Group.
The Impact Award was introduced in 2017 to showcase an activity or innovation that was undertaken by IFST volunteers, whether they be regional branches or special interest groups, that was linked to IFST strategic goals and also sustainable and scalable. The judging team were impressed with the quality and diverse range of submissions, many of which utilised the benefits of digital technology and digital communication to reach out across regions, nations and indeed countries.
The Student Group submission was particularly impressive; a live Student Association Global summit breakout session, using digital technology and digital communication, to reach 500 attendees from across the globe. The focus of the session was 'international careers' and involved both a live panel discussion and association Q and A session. The Student Group already have plans to build upon the success of this impressive event.
Student Group Chair James Huscroft on hearing of their success said
“As chair of the Student Group I am delighted to hear that our group has won the impact award in 2018! It shows the continued growth of the students within the IFST matrix and the hard work that the committee has put in over the last year is being recognised further up the career ladder within the wider organisation. It is a privilege to be chairing our group and I am looking forward to sharing the impact the group will continue to have over the coming years."
