Would you like to help improve the understanding of food science and food technology amongst your fellow professionals, the public and the wider food science and technology community? Do you have the time and enthusiasm to share your knowledge, insights and expertise with fellow IFST members, and contribute to the scientific outputs of your institute?
IFST is looking for new members to join our Scientific Committee. We are particularly looking to increase the diversity of the group, in line with our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion IFST’s diversity statement.
The IFST Scientific Committee Committees | Institute of Food Science and Technology is a governance committee that oversees scientific, technical and legislative activities, ensuring we are producing and referencing reliable and authoritative resources on food science and technology topics, and feedback to the Board. It is made up of volunteer members of IFST and coordinated by IFST’s Senior Scientific Affairs Manager, Natasha Medhurst FIFST.
Committee membership will provide you with the opportunity to work with other members, the IFST Team and the Board of Trustees in a unique capacity, to create and influence the Institute’s outputs and raise the status of the profession. Of course, volunteering is also a great way of networking and engaging in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Your involvement would include:
- providing high-level insights on the resource needs for the sector
- helping to create, curate, coordinate and review IFST’s Science and Technology Resources Science & Technology Resources | Institute of Food Science and Technology
- identifying and reviewing trusted resources for signposting
- attendance at three committee meetings a year (usually two on-line and one face-to-face), plus volunteering to join on-line working groups to produce specific resources.
We produce technical resources for a wide range of stakeholders, from the informed public to students and busy technical professionals, and require the involvement of members who can communicate science at these various levels.
If you are interested, please contact Natasha Medhurst, IFST Senior Scientific Affairs Manager, stating why you would like to join the committee and what you can offer.
