Did you know that when eating food, all of our senses work together?
Although the perception of flavour is a combination of taste and aroma, it is also impacted by sight.
Why not have a play. Next time you’re drinking a flavoured drink (such as tea or juice), try holding your nose.
Alternatively, why not try this simple test on others: Dissolve 4 teaspoons of sugar in a cup full of water, pour equal amounts of the solution into 4 separate cups, using food colouring place 1 – 2 drops of a different colour in each cup. Then ask your friends to try each in turn and to note which they think is the sweetest.
It’s amazing how appearance can sometimes distort how our other senses work.
