Why is it important to be a member of a body like IFST?
It gives you a link into a wide range of experienced professionals in the food industry which in turn broadens your knowledge and awareness of what is happening in the food industry now and the potential issues of the future.
You are an assessor for IFST’s Register of Food Safety Professionals. Why do you consider it important for food safety professionals to join the Register?
Formal recognition of the hard work food safety professionals do day in day out which goes largely unseen by the public until something goes wrong! With the various structured grades on offer it gives people another goal to achieve by moving up the grades as their career and experience progresses.
How do you keep up to date with the latest Food Science and Technology news?
Like most folk I use internet sites and receive email alerts from journals like Food Manufacturer. Good support from IFST quarterly journal too.
Tell us something about yourself that most people won’t know….
I enjoy sailing off the North East coast which at times can be akin to standing in a freezing cold shower which suggests masochistic tendencies!
