Call for Expressions of Interest
With the International Journal of Food Science and Technology celebrating its 60th issue in 2025, the editors invite expressions of interest (EOI) from Early Career Researchers who are considering developing skills in editorship of peer reviewed journals. Applicants should have obtained their PhD within the past 5 years and be working in the Food Science and Technology discipline area, either in academia or industry.
Honorary Associate Editors are required to engage with prospective authors and seek submission of manuscripts; help organise special sections in academic areas covered in the scope of the journal; support the overall reviewing and evaluation activities in relation to manuscripts; facilitate the selection of reviewers for new submissions.
The role is an honorary position and no remuneration is involved in the duties. However, the EIC and the permanent editors of IJFST will act as mentors to the honorary associate editors, and as a gesture of good will, the Institute of Food Science and Technology (U.K.) has kindly offered membership in kind for the duration of the appointment as an honorary associate editor.
People of colour, women, LGBTQI+, and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
To make a formal expression of interest please email your academic CV and a 400-word letter of application explaining the qualities you will bring to the journal and how you would contribute to the growing success of IJFST to recruitment@ifst.org.
The closing date for the submission of EOI’s is 5pm UK GMT 31 October 2024, and appointments will start from the 1 February 2025. The term of appointments is 2 years.
We are looking to work with a maximum of 9 early-career researchers with this opportunity so competition will be extensive and I thank you for your interest in the role, even if you are unsuccessful on this occasion.
Professor Charles Brennan (FIFST, FLS, FRSC).
