Earlier this week, EU representatives have voted in favour of the new EC Regulations that aim to reduce consumer exposure to potentially harmful acrylamide in food products.
The new Regulations will require that food business operators (FBOs) apply mandatory measures to reduce the presence of acrylamide, proportionate to the size and nature of their establishment.
They will now go to the Council and members of the European Parliament, which will have three months to examine them before they are adopted by the Commission. If approved, they could be in force in spring 2018.
