We are pleased to announce that Professor Carol Wagstaff FIFST, University of Reading has been appointed to the Sub-panel on Agriculture, Veterinary and Food Science of the next Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021).
The REF is the system for assessing the quality and impact of research in UK higher education institutions (HEIs). It was first conducted in 2014, and replaced the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). The REF will be undertaken by the four UK higher education funding bodies: the Higher Education Funding Council for England, the Scottish Funding Council, the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, and the Department for the Economy, Northern Ireland.
The panel members include leading researchers and individuals with expertise in the wider use and benefits of research, as well as members with an international perspective on the main panels. Each main and sub-panel also includes at least one member who will take up a new role introduced for REF 2021, overseeing and taking part in the assessment of interdisciplinary research.
Over 4,000 nominations were made for roles across the four main panels and the 34 sub-panels.
