The main goal of IFST is to support the general advancement and application of food science and technology for the benefit, safety, and health of the public. As part of this, one of our key priorities is to inform and support the work of our stakeholders through our independent and objective viewpoints. To make sure we do this effectively, we have a group called the External Affairs Committee, which helps the Institute decide which issues we should focus on and how we can make the most impact.
To do this well, we welcome diverse views to help shape the agenda for IFST communications. We're looking for enthusiastic individuals at all stages of their careers to help give us a broad perspective on the direction of engagement for IFST. If you are interested in communicating science – we need you! If you have experience talking to the media, that's a plus. We're especially interested in people early in their careers.
The group meets a few times a year, mostly through virtual meetings. This is a voluntary role, and you must be a member of IFST to join. Being part of this group gives you a special chance to help shape our work and improve the status of food science and technology.
If you're interested, please contact S.French@ifst.org by 27 October, briefly highlighting why you want to join the External Affairs Committee. You can also contact Stephen at this email address if you would like more information.
