The government has launched a £20m competition for business-led projects that aim to use technology to increase productivity and sustainability in crop and ruminant agriculture systems.
Projects can include:
- Combining digital technologies and engineering solutions with biological, environmental and/or social science
- Developing technologies and solutions that connect farms and supply chains
- Transferring technology from another sector into agriculture, providing this requires innovation
The £20m funding comes via the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund and will be provided by UK Research and Innovation.
The competition opens on 20 August 2018 and will award funding to projects featuring technology solutions to improve either a single or multiple parts of the crop- or livestock- farming supply chain.
The closing date for submissions is 24 October 2018.
