IFST members will be able to book free of charge (usually £20 for non-CIEH members) please use the link provided in the graphic below (you must be a member of IFST and logged in to see the graphic).
Overview
The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are being felt across the world. Counterfeiting and fraud have already been seen in hand sanitisers and personal protective equipment (PPE), so it is reasonable to expect that the vulnerability of the global food supply chain could also be exposed to food fraud. This and contamination are worldwide issues of growing concern in relation to consumer protection and trade globalisation.
We are delighted to welcome the Deputy Government Chemist and Executive Director of the Food Authenticity Network, Selvarani Elahi, and its Chair, Sterling Crew, who is also a member of CIEH’s Board of Trustees. We will also be joined by Steve Smith, Head of Outreach for the National Food Crime Unit. Together they will consider the effects of COVID-19 on food fraud within international supply chains.
Join us to hear more about the data and findings of assessments that the Food Authenticity Network and Mérieux NutriSciences have undertaken to establish whether food fraud incidents increased during 2020.
