South East Branch was awarded the Impact Award for the annual branch presentations on ‘The Future of Food Production’, adapted to an online format in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. With over 190 registered attendees, attracting participants from across the sector – students, academia, industry and government - the event was a great success. The branch is keen to make the most of the greater reach online delivery provided, with hybrid events planned for the future.
COVID-19 Advisory Group was awarded the President’s Special Award. Helen Munday, IFST President, said it was important to recognise the special achievements of this group, which was formed quickly in response to the pandemic and met twice weekly for the first few months. The Group’s output included the COVID-19 Knowledge Hub. The Group’s work proved an invaluable way for IFST to ensure knowledge and expertise was shared throughout the membership and provided a great platform for IFST’s conversations with key contacts, such as DEFRA and FSA. Congratulations to both!
The Impact Award recognises the important contribution that members bring to the work and life of the Institute. Without the time, energy, and expert input of those who serve on committees, working groups, branches and special interest groups, IFST would not achieve the strategic priorities set out by the Board of Trustees.
