Young Scientist Competition - Scotland Results

The Scotland Young Scientist Competition was hosted at Abertay University on 03 April 2018. The evening consisted of two presentation competitions - an undergraduate and a postgraduate competition, with current UK-based students competing for a £250 prize and 1 year's SCI membership.

The undergraduate competition was won by Michael Norris of Glasgow Caledonian University. His presentation focussed on the reformulation of methods for the extraction, detection and quantification of aflatoxins in sunflower and sesame seeds and their edible oils.

The winner of the postgraduate competition was Kirsty Black from Abertay University who impressed the judges with her presentation on legume-supported intercropping to reduce the carbon footprint of barley production in the UK.

Congratulations to all the students who delivered presentations and a big thank you to the judges who attended the event and provided feedback.
