New Professionals Steering Group

The New Professionals Group, aims to support and engage with anyone who has recently graduated from University and in the early stages of their career.  The aim is to expand networks with other new professionals joining the food industry.  We hope to achieve this through regional events, forum discussions and more as agreed by the group. If you have any suggestions as to what we can work on, please do get in touch!

CHAIR: Sam Higginson

I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2016 and returned to M&S on the Food Technologygraduate scheme after completing my industrial placement year at both M&S and Greecore.  Previously I have been involved in setting up the IFST Student group so the New Professionals group feels like a great way to continue being involved with the IFST.

CHAIR: Lucy Packman Lucy Packman

I’m Lucy! I graduated from The University of Leeds in 2016 and currently work within the bakery sector. Beyond this committee, I am a former Young Ambassador for the IFST and currently an active member of the Education and Careers committee.

I graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2016 and joined Bakkavor on their Technical Accelerated Management Scheme (AMS). Previously I have been involved with the IFST volunteering at Big Bang Fairs and I think this is another great opportunity to get people involved and excited about working in food, whilst hopefully creating a strong network for all new entrants into the industry.
