The More than Meat Pies team from Harper Adams University was awarded the £2000 Gold prize at the Ecotrophelia UK 2013 competition for their product, Hearty Meal, a ready meal offal pie.
The team from the University of Nottingham took Silver (£1000) with Kombu Nations’ Sausages, a chinese-style sausage. Bronze (£500) was awarded to a cross-student team representing King’s College London, Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Leeds for Vejects, a snack made from vegetables that would be turned away by supermarkets.
