Ecotrophelia is an Europe-wide Dragons' Den style competition that challenges student teams to develop the best eco-innovative food products, which they then pitch to industry leaders. The UK competition is organised jointly by IFST and Campden BRI and is open to teams of students from UK universities. The first UK competition took place in 2013 and has been run annually since.
The winner of the UK heat goes forward to represent the UK at the European final.

Prizes will awarded to the best teams as follows:

£2000 + 1 year free IFST membership + invitation to become an IFST Ambassador + 1 day to be spent with one or several dragons who will mentor and support the team in preparation for the European final.

Ecotrophelia Europe
The first Ecotrophelia took place in 2011 and has been run annually since. Last year's competition attracted teams representing 16 European countries.
Ecotrophelia Europe Prizes
The 2017 UK gold prize winning team, Yasai Caulirice Sushi from the University of Reading, landed the silver award in the European final, fighting off stiff competiton from 16 other national teams. The University of Reading team has secured the UK's second podium position in two years, with the Fran Borjan team from Nottingham Trent University achieving bronze in 2016.
